About the Artist

“beauty should be experienced at every possible moment...”I am a contemporary, Asian-inspired abstract artist living in Austin, Texas. After a span of crippling anxiety, I left nursing to pursue art. Being shaken from the loss of control, I sought a measure of it in painting. These concepts are what influences my artist expression. Carrying my Asian heritage to the canvas as the subject, I deviate from the traditional calligraphy lines with my own signature painting style. Even though I diverged from the stereotypical life path, I still try to honor where I came from, using art as a way to blend my American upbringing with my Asian heritage. With my East meets West painting style, I give homage to the place I’ve been able to flourish.Artist StatementI draw inspiration from the perfectly symmetrical asymmetry in life and the world around me. It’s one of the reasons why I embrace the freedom of the abstract realm. There is the freedom in it that allows for spontaneity and mistakes.Drawn to the tactile nature of texture, I use bold applications of modeling paste and mixed media to add dimension to my pieces. This is then balanced with subtle, neutral colors and eye-catching metallic foils to seamlessly blend into multiple decor aesthetics.Above all, I am an avid believer that beauty should be experienced at every possible moment, whether that is found in the perfect latte, a breathtaking view, or a stolen kiss. I strive to create art that communicates that belief, one that does not shock and awe, but gives the viewer a muted joy, peace and contentment that can be experienced everyday.

Kintsugi II

36x48ORIGINAL AVAILABLE$2100Kintsugi, or Kintsukuroi, is the Japanese art of fixing broken pottery. Rather than attempting to make a seamless, inconspicuous repair, Kintsugi highlights the cracks by binding the pieces with tree sap lacquer and dusting them with gold, silver or platinum dust. By emphasizing its fractures and breaks, kintsugi is an acknowledgement that something imperfect and broken can be remade into something beautiful. We went through a painful and difficult time during the pandemic. Many of us carry fissures and cracks from it still today. Sometimes one might even say they were broken. But this piece is a hope that we can mend and heal from the trauma and still acknowledge ourselves as changed but still beautiful.

Silver Koi Pond

36x48Sold OutCrafted with meticulous precision, this original composition brings to life the serenity of a Koi Pond with a touch of Zen-like tranquility.
The artistic journey begins with layers of modeling paste meticulously sculpted to form lifelike ripples in water. These waves, reminiscent of a serene pond's surface, provide a captivating texture that draws the viewer into the artwork's depths. Below these textured layers, delicate acrylic washes are applied, infusing the piece with the soft and ethereal qualities of watercolors. Each layer of acrylic wash needs to dry before applying another. This labor-intensive process extends over several weeks.
The focal point of this masterpiece, the graceful koi fish, is rendered in resplendent gold acrylic. These elegant creatures are further adorned with genuine 24k gold foil, a testament to the artist's unwavering dedication to the highest caliber of fine art. While imitations may captivate the eye, the artist's choice of authentic gold foil guarantees a timeless quality. The brilliance of genuine gold will not yield to the passage of time; it will not dim or tarnish, ensuring this artwork's enduring allure for generations to come.As a diptych, this creation offers a unique and immersive experience. Whether displayed horizontally or vertically, these two canvases have been meticulously painted to create a seamless flow, allowing the water ripples and koi to move effortlessly from one canvas to the other. Invite a sense of harmony into your space by exploring both perspectives, each inviting you to embark on a meditative journey, where tranquility and calmness envelop the observer.Incorporate this exceptional piece into your interior design to infuse your living space with the soothing essence of a Koi Pond, where artistry, dedication, and mindfulness converge. Gold on Steel Koi Pond

36x48ORIGINAL AVAILABLE$1400 | $2100 setThis piece was done with waved layers of modeling paste sculpted to create ripples in water, on top of acrylic washes to give it a watercolor effect. Every acrylic wash is required to dry before the next color wash can be applied, therefore, the background beneath the ripples takes several weeks to complete. The koi themselves are done in gold acrylic with and embellished with genuine 24k gold foil. While many imitation gold foils can be equally beautiful, the artist wanted to commit to the highest quality of materials to provide the highest grade of fine art. Genuine gold will not fade or tarnish with age.Tranquil and calm, this abstract Koi Pond is part of a diptych meant to give any room a Zen-like quality. Both horizontally and vertically, these pieces were painted so the water ripples and koi appear to flow seamlessly from one canvas to the other no matter how they are displayed. Image them one way and then the other and find peace in the meditative experience.

Ikebana

24x30ORIGINAL AVAILABLE$675Ikebana "making flowers alive" is the art of Japanese flower arranging and is counted as one of the three classical Japanese arts of refinement.Strategically crafted, this piece actually contains three separate flower arrangements, depending on the angle you look at it. If you stand directly in front, you'll see a beautiful orchid against a backdrop of silver and gold. Stand to the right at the gold and silver disappear to leave a bright white solitary orchid. And if you stand to the left the orchid falls away to leave brilliant gold and silver petals falling gracefully from the branches. This illusion is made possible by the play of light on the reflective metallic foils. Near impossible to reproduce, it marks this piece as a piece of original art.

Record of a Dragonflower

14x14 FRAMEDORIGINAL AVAILABLE$275"Record of a Dragonflower" is a mesmerizing piece of art that captures the ephemeral beauty of dragon fruit flowers, often revered as the "Queen of the Night" or "Moonflower" due to their evanescent allure. These flowers, which exclusively unfurl under the cloak of darkness, exhibit a brief and remarkable existence, with a lifespan of just around eight hours. In this enchanting artwork, the artist preserves the transitory splendor of dragon fruit blossoms, akin to a vinyl record, which eternally plays a harmonious ode to their evanescent existence. The prominent black brushstrokes, much like the grooves on a vinyl record, records the very essence of these nocturnal blooms."Record of a Dragonflower" evokes a profound sense of the passage of time and the impermanence of natural beauty. The title itself serves as a poignant reminder that art can encapsulate and immortalize the ephemeral, inviting viewers to contemplate the fleeting yet profound moments of beauty that grace our world. It is, in essence, a timeless serenade to the transient beauty of nature, played out on the canvas of existence.

Spring Bluebonnets

18x38ORIGINAL AVAILABLE$800Acrylic, Acrylic wash, Glimmer Mist, Mixed MediaOne of my first memories of Texas was when we made the drive to Muleshoe Bend to see the bluebonnets. It was not a bright blue sky day, but one that was opaquely overcast, one of those days where it hadn't yet decided if it was in the mood to send down a drizzle. One that was the absolutely perfect backdrop to highlight the vibrance of the Texas Bluebonnets. Dignified blue with smart white and green caps, along with the ambiance, radiated serenity and contentedness. After looking at this painting, I hope you can take some of it with you.

Climbing Pothos

24x30ORIGINAL AVAILABLE$800Vivid leaves in several shades of green climb a silvery grey waterfall. Lines made with texturing gives the painting an organic, earthy feel to invite the viewer to immerse themselves in the hazy mist, and glimpse water slicked stone. This piece was made with multiple layers of acrylic wash, overlaid with modeling paste, and coated in acrylic paint.

Rain Washed Peonies

16 x 20Sold Out"Peonies in Rain" is a mesmerizing piece of art that effortlessly fuses the elegance of Asian aesthetics with the freedom of abstract expressionism. This painting invites viewers into a world of delicate beauty and contemplation, where the timeless allure of peonies is captured in shades of pink and white against a serene backdrop of white and grey silver. The composition of "Peonies in Rain" is strikingly balanced. At first glance, one is drawn to the contrasting white and pink petals against the stark black. The soft, pastel pinks and whites evoke a sense of peace and grace, while the use of abstraction allows the peonies to transcend their natural form, becoming symbols of transcendental beauty. The silver grey undertones lend an ethereal quality to the background, suggesting a dreamlike atmosphere that enhances the overall sense of tranquility. One of the most captivating elements of "Peonies in Rain" is the title itself, which hints at a narrative or mood beyond the visual. The reference to rain adds a layer of emotion and symbolism to the artwork. Rain is often associated with renewal, cleansing, and melancholy, and in this context, it seems to wash over the peonies, enhancing their fragility and ephemeral nature. It invites viewers to contemplate the transient beauty of life and the profound emotional depth that can be found in fleeting moments. The fusion of Asian inspiration in this artwork is evident not only in the choice of subject matter but also in the execution. The delicate balance of negative space and detailed elements reflects the principles of harmony and balance found in Asian art and design. Furthermore, the artist's ability to evoke a sense of serenity and contemplation aligns with the meditative qualities often associated with traditional Asian art forms. This painting is a visual poem that captures the essence of beauty, impermanence, and the profound connection between nature and the human soul. It invites viewers to pause, reflect, and find solace in the delicate world it portrays.

Peony Noir

This triptych celebrates the duality of femininity in all its forms, delicate and strong, understated but bold. It challenges the conventional belief that these are contradicting elements, exuding
poise, elegance, and being unapologetically feminine.
